A man fishes in the Bosphorus Strait off of the port in the Ortakoy District. Behind him is the Bosphorus Bridge, which was completed in 1973. The suspension bridge spans the Bosphorus straight, connecting Europe and Asia. The Bosphorus, also referred to as the Istanbul Strait, forms the boundary between the European and the Asian sides of Turkey. At 32 kilometers (20 miles) long, the Bosphorus joins the Sea of Marmara with the Black Sea in Istanbul. Two suspension bridges cross over the Bosphorus: the Bosphorus Bridge, completed in 1973, and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, completed in 1988.

Le Bosphore, egalement designe comme le detroit d'Istanbul, forme la frontiere entre l'Asie et les cotes de la Turquie europeenne. De 32 km (20 milles) de long, le Bosphore relie la mer de Marmara a la mer Noire a Istanbul. Deux ponts suspendus le traversent: le pont du Bosphore, acheve en 1973, et le pont Sultan Fatih Mehmet, achevee en 1988.
